Statistics from the Vietnam Maritime Administration, in the first 5 months of 2022, the volume of goods through seaports reached 306.5 million tons (excluding goods in transit without loading or unloading at the port), an increase of 1% over the same period. 2021. In the first 6 months of the year, the total volume of goods through the seaport is estimated to reach 370.8 million tons, an increase of 2%.<\/p>\n

Some seaport areas have increased cargo throughput such as Quang Ninh area increased by 42.4%, An Giang increased by 218%, Quang Tri increased by 20% and Dong Nai increased by 32%...<\/p>\n

In contrast, many large seaport areas such as Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City all recorded a slight decrease in throughput volume from 3%-8%. Of which, Ho Chi Minh City reached 67.2 million tons, down 8% and Vung Tau reached 46.9 million tons, down 3%.<\/p>\n

The volume of container goods through seaports in the first 5 months of 2022 reached 10.5 million TEUs, an increase of 2% compared to the same period in 2021. Of which, exports reached 3,477 million TEUs, an increase of 5% and imports reached 3 .63 million TEUs, an increase of 5%.<\/p>\n

The amount of containers through Ho Chi Minh City seaport also decreased by 3.4%, Da Nang decreased by 18.1%. Even the seaports of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have a decrease of 22% to 99% compared to the same period in 2021.<\/p>\n

Deputy Director of Vietnam Maritime Administration Hoang Hong Giang assessed that the 1% increase in the volume of goods through seaports is the lowest growth rate compared to the last few years, even though Vietnam has entered a new situation after the Covid epidemic. -19.<\/p>\n

Previously, in the first 4 months of the year, the growth rate was 2% over the same period, which was a very low growth rate for many years.<\/p>\n

Notably, imported goods through seaports continued to decrease sharply. The amount of imported goods only reached 87.1 million tons, down 8% compared to the same period in 2021.
